In Cambodia’s untouched Koh Rong Archipelago, two pristine islands lie side by side. They are known locally as Song Saa – Khmer for ‘The Sweethearts’.

Song Saa Private Island is as seductive as the name implies. Think intimate. Think luxurious. But above all think harmony – with all the elements of nature that make this place so special.

The resort spans the islands of Koh Ouen and Koh Bong, connected by a footbridge over a marine reserve we have established to safeguard the islands’ reefs and marine life including turtles, seahorses and exotic species of tropical fish.

It features luxury Over-Water, Jungle and Ocean-View villas built with sustainable materials and with the deepest respect for the natural environment.

At the resort’s heart is a world-class restaurant and lounge, spectacularly positioned just off the island’s shoreline and surrounded by sea. A short stroll on the boardwalk will leave you perfectly positioned to take in dramatic sunsets, seascapes and starry nights.

From the moment you set foot on Song Saa’s exquisite islands,  you won’t have a care in the world. The resort provides a simple Always-Included pricing policy: one price, per villa, per night. The only exceptions to this are motorised water activities, some adventure and conservation experiences as well as treatments at the resort’s sanctuaries.

Buddhist ceremonies

The Resort can arrange local Buddhist monks to perform a traditional blessings ceremony at a nearby pagoda (temple) on Koh Rong. These ceremonies add a sacred touch to that special event, and are popular for birthdays, weddings and honeymoons.
The ceremonies are complimentary and the resort will transfer you to and from the local Buddhist pagoda in a traditional long tail boat.

Live Sea Urchin

Live urchin is a much different experience than sushi sea urchin.Eating live urchin is dramatic. It’s cracked open for you and the spines are still moving about as you eat it. Yes, that’s right… it is still moving while you enjoy it. It may sound gross to you, but what other form of food can you eat while it’s still moving? Yes, it’s a little weird, we admit, but it’s also pretty darn cool! The urchin will actually move for over 30 minutes after it’s been opened. Also, expect this strange delicacy to be a conversation starter. People around you will ask you all sorts of questions about it, so be prepared to meet new people because of your urchin. Meeting new people is always fun, right?

So, next time you have the chance to try live sea urchin, you have to try it. You may love it. If you don’t, well then, at least you have a good story to tell.
