OUR BATIK HEAD WRAPS

The batik process produces intricate designs through the use of a dye-resist. the resist is usually wax, which prevents any dye from penetrating the covered areas, thus creating a pattern in negative. As an art form, the method is ancient. In 4th century b.c, Egyptians used this art form during the mummification process, to ornately decorate the cloths. on the motherland, Batik is currently found in several countries such as Nigeria, Cameroon, and Mali. The making of an intricate hand-drawn batik is a lengthy process which, together with the dye baths, can take from a few days up to six months or more.
